Acupuncture

Acupuncture treatments consist of the stimulation of points around the body to harmonise the circulation of ‘Qi’ and blood, this in turn leads to improved vitality and better health. Points can also be stimulated with combination of needles, massage, pressure and heat. These methods are often combined but for young children and those anxious about needles treatments tend to consist of only non-invasive techniques.

Treatment time is generally around 30-45 minutes (please allow up to an hour for the initial consultation), after which if possible you should try to refrain from anything too strenuous and let the effects of the treatment sink in.

For what kind of conditions should you consider treatment?

Traditional East Asian therapies like acupuncture are for anyone who wants to feel healthier. They could be having troubling symptoms or they might be in good shape but want to continue to be so and reduce the likelihood of getting ill. Whatever the condition acupuncture, shiatsu and traditional herbal formulas can help the body to make the best of what it’s got.

For many problems of a functional nature this might be all that is required, in more serious cases of organic disease acupuncture can be used alongside Western medicine to strengthen the body’s ability to cope with the effects of medication as well as fighting illness. Acne Addictions (including smoking) Allergies Angina Ante natal Anxiety Arthritis (rheumatoid and osteo) Asthma Back pain Bladder disorders Blood pressureBronchitisCancer care/recoveryCarpal tunnelChronns diseaseCirculatory problemsColitisCommon coldConstipationCrampCystitisDepressionDiarrhoeaDigestive problemsDizzinessEczemaFlatulenceFrozen shoulderGastritisGolfers elbowHay fever HeadachesHot flushesHyperacidityInfertility Insomnia Joint pain Labour inductionLow libidoLumbagoMigrainesMorning sicknessMouth ulcersNeck painNervous tensionPeriod problems (pain, heavy, irregular etc)Poor immunityPost natal depressionPremenstrual tensionRespiratory problemsSciaticaSequelae of strokeSinusitisSkin problemsSports injury SprainsStress Tennis elbow TinnitusToothache (including post extraction pain)Trigeminal neuralgiaUlcersUrinary infection/retentionWeight problems
